Nahiris Aranzamendi Mejias, MA, LCMHCA

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a National Certified Counselor. I am trained in Gottman Level 1 and SYMBIS which allow me to work with premarital and married couples. I also work with children and follow the Parenting with Love & Logic model to teach different parenting techniques to caregivers. Additionally, I enjoy working with adults and help them find fulfillment in their lives. I work under the supervision of Dr. Heloisa Portela who is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Supervisor. I completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology at the “Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Puerto Rico Recinto de Ponce'' and graduated from Liberty University with a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling.

Four years ago, I began my journey in the mental health field working at a residential facility dedicated to serving children and adolescents with major mental health disorders. In such capacity, I worked both in a home-based and acute inpatient settings. In addition, as a part of my Masters program, I completed an internship in an outpatient setting focusing on young adults and older. More recently, I have been working in care management with uninsured and underinsured populations.

I have come to learn that my passion lies in helping children and adolescents successfully navigate their developmental stages. I especially enjoy walking alongside this population as they process trauma and abuse. However, I also find much gratification in joining young adults and adults as they share and process through their life story.

I strongly believe that clients are the experts on themselves. I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space for them to freely express their emotions and thoughts. At the heart of my counseling is the desire to build a strong rapport with each one of my clients. 

In my free time, you can find me at the beach, exploring local coffee shops, or enjoying a nice meal at a restaurant.
